Long, heavy steering paddle. Painted design on one side and deeply carved design on the other side. Painted side features stylized designs in grey and white. The paddle is long, with a wide notched handle at the top. The neck narrows before the blade. At the bottom of the blade, the paddle narrows to a point. The carved side of the paddle features three faces, two of which are anthropomorphic with narrow eyes, a wide nose and narrow mouth. The face at the bottom is larger than the one above. The small face on the handle looks bird-like, possibly an owl? Signed and dated near handle.
