Small carved jade plaque. Inside a solid rectangular border is carved a deer walking amongst heavy foliage. Texture and depth are carved into the images on the front while the back is smooth.

Ornamental plaque for a belt (not a buckle). Late 19th-early 20th century reproduction of an earlier style.

The deer symbolized a highly placed official. The pine tree and fungus symbolize long life and are auspicious.
