Large jar with ovoid form, long-tubular spout with bird head design, globular rim, side handle in vertical position and small wings, feet, beak and tail in relief. Back of body is black; front has cream slip. Two black circles with dots in the interior as eyes. Cream band near rim (above black forehead). Molded and hand built ceramic. Slightly broken.

Narrative
Rosita Tovell's father was a collector of Peruvian pre-Columbian ceramics. Rosita moved to Peru in the early 1960s, while her husband served as ambassador to Peru and Bolivia. During this time Rosita began to study and collect pre-Columbian Peruvian ceramics and textiles.
