Byzantine coin of Justinian I, 527-565. Obverse: Justinian I, enthroned, with diadem; to left, he holds a sceptre; to right, he holds a globus cruciger; to left, inscription says ‘[D]NIVSTINI’; to right, ‘ANVSPPAVS’, with the 'S' in a horizontal position. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, a star; to right, a crescent facing outwards; above, a cross; beneath, possibly a version of 'Δ' (or possibly 'B'?); in exergue, '+TH[EϤ]P'.
