Byzantine coin of Justin II, 565-578. Obverse: Justin II, on left, and Sophia, on right, both enthroned; between them, they hold a globe with a large cross above it; each also holds a long sceptre; both rulers have haloes; inscriptions are blundered; to left, it is illegible; to right, it says ‘D…N’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to the left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to the right, ‘ϚII’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘Γ’; in exergue, ‘THEϤP’, with a diagonal line attached to the bottom portion of the ‘P’.
