Byzantine coin of Heraclius, 610-641. Obverse: three rulers standing and facing front; Heraclius is in the middle, wearing military dress and holding a long cross; Heraclius Constantine, his son, is to the right; Heraclonas, his other son, is on the left; both sons hold globus crucigers in their right hands; all three figures wear crown with cross. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘XX…’; above, monogram; there is also a large ‘Λ’ on the reverse from an earlier coin, which is above the ‘M’; beneath the ‘Λ’, there is a ‘Δ’. This coin has been overstruck on an earlier coin, creating confusion on reverse. The monogram corresponds to number 21 in the Sear catalogue.
