Byzantine coin of Leontius, 695-698. Obverse: bust of Leontius, facing front; to left, he holds a globus cruciger; to right, there is a cross; inscriptions are illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘[A]NNO’ in a vertical position; above, cross; in exergue, ‘CO[N]’. Coin has been overstruck. There is some debate about whether this type of coin belongs to Leontius or Leo III.
