MOA: University of British Columbia
3095/1272
Byzantine coin. Obverse: bust of an emperor, facing front; to left, he holds a globus cruciger. Reverse: large ‘K’; to left, ‘ANA’ in a vertical position. Collector’s envelope suggests that this coin belongs to Philippicus, 711-713, but coins from his reign most often have ‘ANNO’ on the reverse, not ‘ANA’. The last emperor to write ‘ANA’ on his coins was Constans II, 641-668.
