Obverse: busts of Michael I, to left, and Theophylactus, his son, to right; each wears a chlamys and a crown with cross; to left, inscription is illegible; above, it says ‘HLS’; to right, ‘ΘEOF’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘XXX’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘NNN’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘A’.
