Byzantine coin of Constantine VI and Irene, 780-797. Obverse: bust of Irene, facing front; she wears an elaborate crown with cross and a loros, an embroidered and jewelled scarf; to left, she holds a globus cruciger. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘X’; to right, ‘N’; beneath, ‘A’; above, bust of Constantine VI; he wears a chlamys; to left, he holds a globus cruciger.
