Byzantine coin of Michael II, 820-829. Obverse: two busts, facing front; to left, Michael II, wearing a chlamys; to right, Theophilus, wearing a loros, an embroidered and jewelled scarf; both wear a crown with cross; between their heads, cross; to left, inscription says ‘MIXAHL’; above, ‘SΘ’; to right, ‘EOFILOS’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘XXX’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘NNN’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘Θ’.
