Byzantine coin of Constantine VII, 913-959. Obverse: bust of Romanus I, co-emperor from 920-944, facing front; he wears a crown with cross and a jewelled chlamys; to right, he holds a globus cruciger; to left, inscription says ‘RWMAn[bA]S’; to right, ‘ILEVSRWM’. Reverse: there is an inscription of four lines, which begins with a cross, and says ‘RWMA/nEnΘEWbA/SILEVSRW/MAIWn’. The inscription on the reverse in translation says ‘Romanus, by the Grace of God, King of the Romans’.
