Byzantine coin of Nicephorus III, 1078-1081. Obverse: Christ, standing and facing front; he has a nimbus cruciger around his head, which is a cross within a halo; to left and right, stars; above left star, it says ‘[I]C; above right star, it says ‘XC’. Reverse: eight-pointed star within a circle; to left, right, above, and beneath circle, pellets; to left, ‘CN’ in a vertical position’; to right, ‘[Φ]Δ’ in a vertical position. The inscription on the obverse in translation says ‘Jesus Christ’.
