Byzantine coin of Alexius I, 1081-1118. Obverse: Christ, enthroned; he has a nimbus cruciger around his head, which is a cross within a halo; he raises his right hand in benediction; in his left hand, he holds the Book of Gospels, which is decorated with dots. Reverse: bust of Alexius I, facing front; he wears a jewelled chlamys; to left, he holds a cruciform sceptre; to right, he holds a globus cruciger.
