Byzantine coin of Manuel I, 1143-1180. Obverse: bust of Christ, facing front; he has a nimbus cruciger around his head, which is a cross within a halo; to left, inscription says ‘IC’; to right, it says ‘X[C]’. Reverse: bust of Manuel I, facing front; he wears a jewelled chlamys and a crown with cross; to left, he holds a labarum, a military standard; to left, inscription says ‘MANɤHΛ’. The inscription on the obverse in translation says ‘Jesus Christ’. Coin is concave.
