Byzantine coin of Manuel I, 1143-1180. Obverse: large cross resting on three steps; there is an ‘X’ in the centre of the cross. Reverse: bust of Manuel I, facing front; he wears a loros, an embroidered and jewelled scarf; to left, he holds a labarum, a military standard; to right, he holds a globus cruciger.
