Byzantine coin of Alexius III, 1195-1203. Obverse: bust of Saint George, facing front; he has a halo; he wears a cuirass, a type of armour; to right, he holds a spear; to left, inscription says ‘ʘΓE’ followed by a ‘P’ attached to a ‘W’. Reverse: Alexius III, standing and facing front; he wears a loros, an embroidered and jewelled scarf; to left, he holds a labarum, a military standard; to right, he holds a globus cruciger.
