Byzantine coin of Andronicus II, 1282-1328. Obverse: bust of the Virgin Mary, facing front; she has a halo; she raises her hands in prayer; to left and right, there are patterns of dots. Reverse: Andronicus II, standing and facing front; to left, he holds a long cross; to right, he holds a globus cruciger; to left, inscription says ‘AN…IN…IKIC…ECI…TH…M’.
