Byzantine coin from the 12th to 13th centuries CE. Obverse: bust of the Virgin Mary, facing front; she has a halo; she raises her hands on either side of her in prayer. Reverse: an emperor, standing and facing front; to left, he holds a long cross; to right, he holds a scroll. Coin is concave.
