Byzantine coin from the first half of the 13th century CE. Obverse: the Virgin Mary, enthroned; she has a halo; to left, inscription says ‘MP’; to right, ‘ΘV’. Reverse: a figure, standing and facing front; this is most likely an emperor; he may be sitting on a throne; to left, inscription says ‘C’; to right, ‘ΔC’. Coin is concave.

  The Latin Rulers of Constantinople, who minted the ‘Latin Imitation’ coins, captured the city after the Fourth Crusade in 1204. They were driven out by the Byzantine Greeks in 1261.

  “Billon Trachy” (denomination); Sear# 2021 or 2023 ? Coin is similar to ‘Latin Imitation’ coins, but collector envelope says ‘Bulgarian Imitation’ coin.
