Latex (balata) figure of an arapaima fish. Figure is made of dyed latex rubber, hand molded. Fish is long with a relatively thin body, narrowing toward the caudal fin. Tail curves to the left. Dorsal and anal fins follow the line of the tail from midpoint of body, and they and the caudal fin are painted in stripes of red and brown. Small pectoral and pelvic fins are held slightly away from the sides, with the left pectoral curving slightly upwards. The body is densely covered in incised loop markings to indicate scales. The head is square and blunt with incised gills, as well as mouth and nostrils, between inset black eyes.
