Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front; he has a crown and wears consular robes; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds a sceptre with an eagle on top; above his head, cross; to left, inscription says ‘ONMAVRICI’; to right, ‘T’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘A[N]NO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘XX’ in a vertical position; above, ‘P’ within a cross; beneath, ‘B’; in exergue, ‘TES’.
