Ceramic tile, square. On a light grey background, tile has an image in blue of a biblical scene representing Pilate washing his hands to declare himself innocent of Christ's crucifixion. He stands in a tiled and windowed room on a dais beside a large chair, a servant holding a wash bowl for him. To the side is Christ accompanied by a soldier. Reference “MAT 27:vs:24:” is written along the bottom of the scene. Image is surrounded by a circular border, and ox-head motifs decorate the corners of the tile. Top surface is glazed and somewhat shiny; sides and bottom are undecorated.
