Cast of Roman sestertius coin of Titus Flavius Vespasianus, 69-79. Obverse: bust of Vespasian, facing right; he wears a laurel crown; to left and right, inscription says ‘IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG PM TR PPP COS III’. Reverse: two figures, standing and facing towards each other; to left, Titus, holding a spear and a parazonium, which is a long, triangular dagger; to right, Domitian, holding a spear and a roll; to left, ‘S’; to right, ‘C’; inscription encircles entire coin and says ‘CAES AVG F DES IMP AVG F COS DES IT’.

• Narrative

  Appears to be a cast forgery, probably from the "Grand Tour" era (mid 17th through mid 19th century), when cast reproductions were sold as souvenirs to young men touring Italy. "Sestertius" was the denomination of the original Roman coin.
