Round, carved, wooden killerwhale pendant. Design shows a larger face below with a wide mouth showing its teeth; a smaller face is carved above. A gold metal band circles the edge. The back is smooth and concave. Three small gold screws at the back hold the band in place. Gold metal hanging ring at top. Artist's inscription on back reads RD 85-91.

  • Narrative

    The boxwood carving was shown in the 'Robert Davidson: Eagle of the Dawn' exhibition and catalogue (Vancouver Art Gallery) in 1993. The red gold band was added at the request of the donor, when she was buying it from a gallery in Montreal in 1994. An example of pieces cast in gold and silver are shown in the exhibition catalogue for "A Voice from the Inside", 1992, pgs 26-27.

    Carved as the wooden master for cast silver/gold pendants. Artist inscription suggests it was used as a cast from 1985-1991.
