Iconographic Meaning
The name of the figure is Entuc or Entuck (also written Andaokot). It can be translated as 'mucus-made' or 'snot boy'. This relates to a creation story of the Nuu-chah-nulth, in which a woman, who lost her child to the Woman of the Woods, blew her nose and threw the mucus on the ground, and over the course of four days it transformed into a baby boy.
