Stone mortar with deep and wide bowl. There are four worn knobs spaced around the circumference, with two additional forms with vertical indentations placed opposite one another.

Narrative
Purchased by Jack Lieber from a villager in Magino (settlement about 20 miles from Watabung), Eastern Highlands, Papua New Guinea. Lieber was there from August 1970 - June 1972 researching village communities in and around Goroka, where he was lecturing under the auspices of UNESCO at the Goroka Teachers College.
