Kkokdu (꼭두) or wooden figure of a musician with a kkwaenggwari (gong). Figure is cone-shaped, with a long yellow robe and painted red ties at waist. His face and hands are light pink, and he holds up a burgundy kkwaenggwari with his left hand, and a black stick in his right. He has painted black features and black hair, and wears a low black hat with a wide flat rim. Flat base with round hole for dowel.

Specific Techniques
This contemporary kkokdu is based on old designs. The artists used old wood and stain/dust known as "Tae" to make them look older. The colouring is called "dancheong", and the natural pigment used was extracted from powdered stone and shell.
