Mask carved of wood. Anthropomorphic mask with a human face and pair of large horns extending up from head. The face features a down turned nose, down-slanting eyes, and a large open mouth with three large fangs. The face is a lighter brown, with the horns and chin a dark brown, and the outlines of the facial features in black.

History Of Use
Said by collector to be a "time of the brave" mask--a symbol of masculinity. Used in festivals for the Mmwo Society. Originally this type was used as a presentation to successful hunters.

Narrative
Assumed to have been collected by Lieber while he was living in Nigeria (1965-1970), lecturing at the University of Ibadan under the auspices of CIDA.
