Skirt composed of long fringe of thin twisted fibre. The fibre is knotted to the waistband. Folded in four layers. One long cords of braided fibre on each end. A paper tag is tied to the waistband.

    The tag attached says "J.K. McCarthy Branch Museum, Goroka. Highland Meri Skirt." Jack Lieber was researching village communities in and around Goroka, where he was lecturing under the auspices of UNESCO at the Goroka Teachers College. While there, Iris managed the McCarthy Museum.
