Double-headed cylindrical metal drum with off-white rawhide skins at both ends (part a). Interlaced skin ties stretch and secure the skins. A single strip of rawhide is wound through the ties around the centre with a looped handle. Curved wooden drumstick (part b) with flat head. A short length of plant fibre is tied behind the flat head and attached in a notch partway down the shaft.

Narrative
The donor purchased the drum from a group from Kenya who used the drum in their performance at Expo 86, in Vancouver.
