Striped tube skirt. Skirt made from three pieces of woven fabric sewn together and then again, along one side, to form a tube. Woven striped design in red, black and colourful dotted lines, and bands in red, pink, blue, yellow, green, off-white and black at the top and bottom edges.

The donor wrote a book on Palong people who crossed into Thailand: ‘The Palaung in Northern Thailand’. Written by Michael C. Howard and Wattana Wattanapun, published by Silkworm Books in Chiang Mai.

Palaung glahng (tube skirt); the thin stripes at each end were said to be the fashion favored by younger, unmarried women.
