Small handmade rug with military imagery: Kalashnikov rifles, helicopters, missile launchers, tanks, hand grenades, fighter jets; all woven in black, brown, green, red-brown and grey on an off-white background. At centre, inside the light grey-brown outline of Afghanistan, is woven 'AFGHAN MOJAHID ZINDA BAAD'. To the right, other texts are inserted. The central design is bordered with a frame of green with red-brown. Long off-white fringe extends from short edges.

Narrative
Purchased at Zalmai's Carpets from an Afghan refugee who was a carpet dealer in the city of Peshawar. The other text in the rug says: 'TREASON HAS COME TO THE END', 'USSR OF AFGANESTAN [sic] ON OCCASION OF RUSSIAN AGGRESSERS[sic] FINAL DEFEAT IN AFGHANISTAN'.
