Large stone carving of a mother and child, on an irregularly-shaped base. Mother has oval-shaped eyes, rounded cheeks, wide nose, and pursed lips; all done in relief. Ears are flush against head, and hair is pulled into an intricate braid that wraps around the back of her head. She is bent over a pot, resting on top of a ring of stones, and holding a seal skin. Woman is wearing a long parka, with flaps along the front and back, and pants tucked into tall boots. Parka has a large pouch on back that child is sitting in. Baby has oval-shaped eyes, wide nose, flat mouth, and is wearing a hooded jacket. Date made, syllabics, and additional numbers carved across base of carving; 'Eskimo art' tag and green pads adhered to base.
