Helmet Mask
MOA: University of British Columbia
3595/6
Wooden helmet mask depicting a human head; the face has round cheeks and a protruding forehead, nose, and mouth. The lips are parted to reveal teeth, with an almond-shaped opening carved through the wood in the centre. A hole is bored through the wood on the centre of the chin. The eyes are almond-shaped and opened wide, with curved lines incised above each to resemble eyebrows. Near the eyes are U-shaped ears on either side of the head, with a semicircular hole bored through the wood in the centre of each. The figure appears to be wearing a tall, intricate headdress composed of many curved lines, with carved-out sections of wood on either side, that connect to circles, ovals, or semicircles.
