Northern-style painted basket with round rim and square base. Plaited rim with 7 rows of check pattern underneath - alternating natural and grey-brown checks. Painted designs are: large face with teeth bared and hands held up; frog design; bird design.

Previous owner Mrs. A.J. Kelly notes in 1910 her mother traded a large tent for this papoose basket with the woman who made it.
