Bowl

MOA: University of British Columbia

2990/55

Flaring gambrel brownware bowl with red slipped interior and incised decoration on the exterior. The decoration consists of four incised panels depicting stylized feline faces and bodies. In the two body panels there are two “eye of god" motifs between the legs. There is a 11 cm gap between the beginning and end of the panels where very faded negative painted dots are visible. Sections of the incised decoration still show red paint, but most has worn away or faded. The bowl has been broken and repaired, with areas of in-fill along the joins and where small pieces are missing.
