Lantern Slide
MOA: University of British Columbia
3000/57 a-b
Single slipper lantern slide. A rectangular wooden frame holds two glass plates side by side, one stationary and the other moveable. The stationary plate shows a vibrantly coloured, printed image of two brown kangaroos sitting in a green box that says "Australian meat 6 per pound". A man in striped pants, blue shirt and yellow hat is walking toward them holding a plate of food. Part b is a pane of glass printed at top centre with a black half circle that when moved hides or reveals the heads of the kangaroos. The frame is built to accommodate the moving slide, with a groove in the end of one side for the plate to move into, and a semi-circular finger hole at the edge. Stamped in wood: "W.C. Hughes Optician...London".
