Byzantine coin of Leo III, 717-741. Obverse: bust of Leo III, facing front; he wears a chlamys; to left, he holds a globus cruciger; on his lap, he holds an akakia, a silk roll containing dust that symbolizes mortality; inscriptions are illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; above, bust of Constantine V, resting on a horizontal bar; to left, he holds a globus cruciger; to right, there is a cross; to right inscription says ‘UTI’ ?; on either end of the horizontal bar, there are two pellets.
