Byzantine coin of Leo IV, 775-780. Obverse: Leo IV, to left, and Constantine VI, to right, both facing front; they sit on a double throne; each wears a chlamys and a crown with cross; between their heads, cross. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘X’; to right, ‘N’; beneath, ‘A’; above, two busts resting on a horizontal line; these are Leo III, to left, and Constantine V, to right; each wears a loros, an embroidered and jewelled scarf; to right of the busts, there are three pellets.
