Byzantine coin of Theophilus, 829-842. Obverse: bust of Theophilus, facing front; he wears a chlamys and a crown with cross; to left, he holds a cross; to left, inscription says ‘ΘEOFI’; to right, it is illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘XXX’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘NNN’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘Θ’.
