Byzantine coin of Alexius III, 1195-1203. Obverse: bust of Saint George, facing front; he has a halo; to right, he holds a spear; to left, inscription says ‘ʘΓE’, followed by a ‘P’ attached to a ‘W’; to right, ‘ΓIO’. Reverse: Alexius III, standing and facing front; he wears a chlamys; to left, he holds a labarum, a military standard; to right, he holds a globus cruciger; to left, inscription says ‘ΛE…IOC’; to right, ‘ΔECΠOT’.
